Historic Wooden Soap Dishes – Handcrafted from the Deck of the SS Great Britain
Add a little piece of maritime history to your home with our truly special handmade wooden soap dishes, crafted in Bristol from the reclaimed deck timbers of the iconic SS Great Britain.
These limited-edition soap dishes are made from Jarrah, a richly coloured, dark red-brown Australian hardwood that once formed part of the ship’s upper deck. As the deck was recently replaced, the original timbers were generously donated to the Bristol Wood Recycling Project; and we were lucky enough to source a small amount and collaborate with a skilled local craftsman to create these exclusive pieces to our own design.
Each dish carries the character and patina of its past life, lovingly transformed into a beautiful, practical object for your home. The wood is naturally water-resistant, wonderfully weighty in the hand, and built to last making it a thoughtful, lasting gift for soap lovers, Bristol enthusiasts, and history buffs alike.
Due to the rarity of the material, these dishes are available in very limited numbers. Once they’re gone, they’re gone. A unique treasure with a story worth sharing!
